Ham is a delicious recipe that many people can cook especially when celebrating special events like birthdays, anniversaries and even holidays. This particular kind of meat is tasty, soft and juicy especially right after cooking. One of the best ways of preparing this type of dish is by baking. To enjoy its fine taste and delicious flavor, it is good to learn how to bake a ham.
Ingredients and Materials Needed
If you wish to bake a ham, you need to prepare an 8-pound smoked ham, ½-cup brown sugar and ½-cup honey. In addition, you also have to bring at least ¼-cup water to give the dish more balanced taste and flavor. Aside from these important ingredients, you also have to gather a number of materials like an oven, an aluminum foil and a small saucepan. When all these are set, you can start baking a ham right away.
Turn the stove on to medium heat. Place the small saucepan on top of it. Mix brown sugar, honey and water inside. Wait until the mixture turns into a thick syrup form. Place the ham on top of a nice clean plate. Gently pour the syrup on top of the ham. Do it slowly to ensure that every part of the meat has enough flavor. Once the syrup cools down, put the plate inside the refrigerator. Let is stand overnight. If you barely have the time to do it, refrigerate it for at least 4 hours.
When the flavor clings to the ham completely, take it out of the refrigerator. Set the oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit and then wait for it to warm up completely for about 5 minutes or more. While the oven is heating up, put the ham inside the small saucepan and then cover it with aluminum foil. By doing this, the flavors will be sealed inside the dish for a tastier result later. Place the pan inside the oven. Bake for at least 2 hours.
After that, simply take the lid off the pan. Baste it hourly as you continue to cook the dish for 3 hours more. When the ham is done, take the pan out of the oven. Let it cool down for approximately 5 to 10 minutes. This will prevent the tasty juices from coming out of the meat. Once the meat cools down, slice them into smaller pieces and then serve. Enjoy the sweet fine taste of this simple but ultra delicious treat.
