How to Bake Chicken Legs

Amongst the different parts of a chicken, the leg is one of the tastiest. This specific part is comprised of the thigh and drumstick. Although it comes with bones, many people still love this part because it tastes better than other meaty portions such as the breast. People can prepare it by frying, roasting and grilling, which are three of the most common ways of cooking this. However, baking is highly desirable because it helps emphasize the taste of this seemingly simple ingredient. In order to enjoy the enticing taste and flavor of this special part, you need to learn how to bake chicken legs.

Important Materials and Ingredients

Baking chicken legs is not that hard. All you need are the right materials and proper knowledge to perform this easy task. The primary ingredients include 6-pieces of chicken legs, 5-tablespoons of olive oil and marinade. Aside from these, be sure to bring in a tablespoon of thyme, a tablespoon of rosemary as well as a tablespoon of oregano, all of which can help enhance the flavor of the legs. Of course, be sure to prepare a teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of ground black pepper for seasoning. In terms of cooking materials, some of the most important are oven, meat thermometer and roasting pan.

Steps

Turn your oven on and then set it to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While it is heating up, start rinsing the chicken legs using cool water. After that, prepare some paper towels. Use them to dry the legs. Once they dry up, season them with salt and pepper. Place them inside the roasting pan. Pour the olive oil and then rub it on the legs. After that, add the marinade as well.

Put the pan in the oven. Leave without cover and then bake for 1½ hour at most. Wait until the legs acquire a golden brown color. Use the thermometer to check if the legs are done. If the reading is somewhere between 170 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit, you can now turn the oven off and take the pan out. Allow the legs to cool down for at least 10 minutes before serving them to guests.

Additional Tips and Other Helpful Information

Never serve the legs if unsure whether they are done. After cooking, it is good to keep the kitchen clean, especially the areas where you placed the chicken. By doing this, the possibility of contamination can be prevented easily. It is also good to create a glaze for the chicken. To do this, simply mix equal parts of white wine, apricot jam and melted part. Apply on the chicken legs approximately in the final 30 minutes of the baking process.
